On May 30, 2020 the Oberhausmuseum will be opening its doors to visitors again! To make your visit as enjoyable and as safe as possible, we have developed comprehensive protective and hygienic measures in coordination with the relevant authorities. We ask for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused by these measures, which have been implemented to ensure your personal safety as well as that of our employees. Here, we would like to inform you about the measures that have been taken.
We also look forward to meeting you again on our social media channels!
We hope that your visit to the museum will be an exciting one. Please stay healthy!
Due to the current regulations, we are only opening the exhibitions "Fascination Middle Ages - Earthly Life and Spiritual Life" as well as "Guilds and Craft - The Mystery of the brotherhoods". The redesigned Observation Tower, St George's Chapel and the Linde Battery view point are also accessible.
The museum has a ‘one-way’ regulation as well as a time-slot of 90 minutes per visit. The time-slot for visiting the Observation Tower is limited to 20 minutes. There are also limitations with regard to visitor numbers. This means that you may have to wait.
Due to the increased danger of infection, hands-on stations and media stations are not in operation for the time being.
Opening times & Shuttle bus
From May 30 onwards, limited opening hours apply for the museum and the Observation Tower:
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, 10am - 6pm
The shuttle bus also operates only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The public bus K5 runs according to schedule.
The museum shop next to the ticket desk is open. Please pay particular attention here to keeping the prescribed minimum distance from others.
The lockers continue to be accessible.
The museum stools are disinfected after each use. Please observe the signs here when taking and returning the stools.
Tours & events
There will not be any public or booked tours or educational programs until further notice. New bookings are only being accepted, provisionally, for the period commencing on August 1.
If you have any questions regarding booking, please consult our booking office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +49 851 396 800 (Monday to Thursday, 9am - 3pm).
Unfortunately, our planned events cannot take place. You can find our constantly updated event calendar here (in German).
With the free Veste Oberhaus App you can start a fascinating tour through the Veste Oberhaus at any time, "following the footsteps of knights and prince-bishops". The app includes various adventure tours, and glimpses behind otherwise locked doors make the past visible again. Free WiFi allows you to download the app on site.
Please keep to the marked route, and follow the instructions of our staff.
Please do not enter the museum if you are feeling ill, or if you have recently been in contact with a sick individual.
During your entire stay at the museum, please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth. Masks can be purchased at the museum if required. Where necessary, please dispose of your mask in the waste bins provided.
Please use the disinfectant dispensers at the entrance to the museum and to the Observation Tower.
Make sure you maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 to 2 metres from other people, and pay attention to the maximum permitted number of visitors inside the rooms.
The cleaning cycles in the museum have been increased, and handrails, doors, surfaces and sanitary facilities are all cleaned and disinfected regularly.
